Unique seatrout strain
in the River Odder
The tiny River Odder is home to
a seatrout population unique in that it dates back to the last
ice age some 10.000 years ago. Seatrout from this prescious river
stock can be caught off the shores of nearby Kysing Næs
which is pictured above.
To help and protect this rare strain
of seatrout a free-flowing passage was made in the river near
Odder Museum where fish and aquatic animals may now ascend the
river and negotiate the mill pond. Previously a non-functional
fish ladder didn't allow them to reach their upstream spawning
grounds.
